Is PrEP for You?

PrEP Recommendations

Prep is recommended for HIV negative men and women, regardless of sexual orientation, who are:

  • At risk of being exposed to HIV through sexual activity or injecting drugs
    or
    In a relationship with a partner who is HIV positive

  • Already using condoms or other prevention methods, and desire even more protection


PrEP is a Powerful Prevention Tool...

However, for sexually active people, no prevention strategy is 100% effective. In addition to using PrEP, you should also:

  • Use condoms consistently and correctly

  • Get tested regularly for HIV and STDs, with your partner

  • Choose sexual activity that has a lower risk, such as oral sex, and

  • If you inject drugs, participate in a drug treatment program, or use sterile drug injection equipment
