Places That Provide HIV Testing

When you're ready, there are several different places to go to for an HIV test:

County Health Departments and community-based organizations typically offer walk-in testing on a first-come, first-served basis. These entities will use rapid HIV tests that can provide results within 30 minutes. Testing is often provided free of charge, or at a very low cost.

Community events and health fairs often have one or more community providers offering free outreach testing. Testing is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather than discuss your test results during the event, you'll be given a reference number and asked to either call for your results or log in to secure website.

Private medical providers will usually require you to make an appointment in advance. Often these providers prefer to take a blood sample to send to an outside lab for testing. It may take a few days for your results to come back from the lab. Most likely, you will be charged for your visit. The private medical providers listed on have HIV training and experience.
