You Can Live Healthy and Well

Learning that you're HIV positive can be overwhelming. The first thing many people worry about is how long the can expect to live. It's important to know that people living with HIV can lead long, productive, happy lives. They can have families and relationships, either with other HIV positive people or with people who do not have HIV.

The key to living healthy and well is to begin medical care right away, and stay in care by seeing your medical provider regularly. The sooner you get medical treatment, the better your chances of living a long, full life. You should visit a medical provider even if you don’t feel sick. HIV can compromise your health without causing any symptoms until you become very sick.

In addition to getting medical care, you should seek support from family and/or friends, and learn more about HIV and ways limit your risk of passing HIV on to your partner.
